Tea Tree Melaleuca Alternifolia:
We recognize the useful properties that this herbaceous plant (Melaleuca alternifolia) provides.
Native to Australia, Tea Tree is known as an antibacterial. The leaves produce the oil known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal uses.
Conditions such as acne, athlete’s foot, contact dermatitis and head lice have been known to show improvements with the use of tea tree oil.
We include this essential oil in our soaps and handwash because of its antimicrobial properties.
Historically the Australian aboriginals used tea tree leaves for healing skin cuts, burns, and infections by crushing the leaves and applying them to the affected area.
Tea tree oil is made by steam distillation of the leaves.
Traditionally the leaves were used as a substitute for tea, which is how tea tree oil got its name.
The part that we use most is the oil from the leaves.
